Definition and Function

Drop wires are mainly used to monitor the status of warp yarns in ribbon weaving machines. During the weaving process, the warp yarns continuously pass through the drop wires. When the warp yarns break or have abnormal tension, the drop wires will play a role. For example, once a warp yarn breaks, the drop wire will fall due to the loss of support from the warp yarn. This will promptly trigger the stop motion device of the weaving machine, causing it to stop running quickly to avoid the production of more defective ribbons. Meanwhile, they can also assist in controlling the tension of the warp yarns to a certain extent. Through their own weight and contact with the warp yarns, they fine-tune the tension of the warp yarns.
